While there can be doubt that a pregnancy is not just a divine but a spiritual experience as well, several pregnant women do find it tough to manage the constant physical changes as well as emotional roller-coaster rides they have to endure. That is why all women who are pregnant should at least try to be in a good frame of mind as often as possible. Even husbands, family members and friends need to join in to make the pregnancy a happy event for the mother-to-be.

One of the best ways to generate a light atmosphere during pregnancy is to wear funny maternity t-shirts. What better way to bring a smile to your face than actually wearing something which would make you laugh? Wearing a funny t-shirt would not only get your spirits lifted, but it would create a jovial environment with people you interact with as well.

Friends and family members will have a conversation point with you the instant they read the funny messages on your t-shirts. This can go all day long as you can wear your t-shirts throughout the day. A lot of women who have to work or go to the office daily feel they cannot wear such attires with funny notes written on them. If that is your case as well, keep in mind the messages should not be rude or offensive to be amusing. Messages that are clean, funny and do not hurt anyone’s sentiments can be easily worn to the office and is ideal for all events.

In fact it is not necessary you need to make someone laugh with your t-shirt. The words “It’s a boy” or “It’s a girl” could get a smile to people’s faces as well. Having a number to let people know if it is your first, second or even third baby can be amusing as well. How about messages like “baby inside” or photographs of your favorite rock band on the belly of the t-shirt. All of these create excellent talking points with everyone even people you don’t know. The whole point of having a cute maternity t-shirt is to lighten up your mood and be cheerful all the time. In that regard, wear t-shirts with messages that work best for you.

Funny t-shirts will simply get you to relax and take your mind away from the not so enjoyable moments of pregnancy. As you smile more; the better it gets for your child’s wellbeing. This is the reason I feel cute pregnancy wears should not be seen as just an accessory but should be deemed a must have during pregnancy. Anything that gets you to smile is a must have as far as I am concerned.

Pregnancy does not need to be a tough or a tiresome experience. Everything depends on you. If you genuinely want, you can make the whole nine months of your pregnancy a fun affair with smiles and delight. Cute pregnancy t-shirts can help you achieve this. Simply lighten up your mind and reassure yourself in knowing that you will before long get to sense one of the most wonderful experiences anyone can ever sense when you hold your own child in your arms.

With the cost of ivf so high, many times when a woman is having problems conceiving, the fertility specialist will prescribe drugs. And, in the majority of cases, the drug recommended will be Clomid. But there are other drugs that can be just as useful.

A second class of popular fertility drug are gonadotropins. They are similar in composition to the FSH and LH hormones. Normally, FSH and LH hormones are produced by the pituitary gland. If they are not, however, gonadrotropins are used to replace the FSH and LH hormones that would normally be produced by the pituitary gland. These drugs used to be produced from the urine of menopausal women. Nowadays, however, they are genetically engineered. These drugs are not taken orally but are given by injection either in the buttocks or just under the skin.

Some of the lesser prescribed fertility drugs include:

Human Menopausal Conadrotropins (hMG) – this is a distilled extraction of LH and FSH taken from the urine of postmenopausal women. It’s injected either subcutaneous or directly into the woman’s muscles.

Human Chorionic Conadotropin (hCG) -  this is a hormone that helps the ovaries produce progesterone and estrogen. Ovulation usually occurs within 36 hours after injection

Gonadotropin-Releasing Hormone (GnRH) – this hormone triggers the pituitary gland to make the LH and FSH hormones. It is expensive and less available in the U.S. than it used to be.

Progesterone supplement – these are given to women who’s body can’t produce enough progesterone on it’s own. It is usually taken orally, but can be taken by injection as well.

If you monitor some of the ivf message boards, you’ll discover additional effective drugs as well.

Each year, aw we learn more about the reproduction system, new fertility drugs hit the market. And, normally, there is no magic drug that can trigger fertility, at least not when used alone. They are often used in combination with some other fertility treatment. Also, in many cases the cause of the infertility is not with the woman. For example, the male’s sperm may be bad. In other cases, the cause of the infertility may be with the woman, but not related to hormones. In these cases hormone treatments will be useless.

Please see our website for additional articles about acupuncture and infertility and related fertility issues.

Getting pregnant when you have PCOS – What you need to know?

Sunday, March 7th, 2010
http://parenting.guruz-blog.com/wp-content/plugins/sociofluid/images/digg_48.png http://parenting.guruz-blog.com/wp-content/plugins/sociofluid/images/reddit_48.png http://parenting.guruz-blog.com/wp-content/plugins/sociofluid/images/stumbleupon_48.png http://parenting.guruz-blog.com/wp-content/plugins/sociofluid/images/delicious_48.png http://parenting.guruz-blog.com/wp-content/plugins/sociofluid/images/furl_48.png http://parenting.guruz-blog.com/wp-content/plugins/sociofluid/images/technorati_48.png http://parenting.guruz-blog.com/wp-content/plugins/sociofluid/images/magnolia_48.png http://parenting.guruz-blog.com/wp-content/plugins/sociofluid/images/google_48.png http://parenting.guruz-blog.com/wp-content/plugins/sociofluid/images/myspace_48.png http://parenting.guruz-blog.com/wp-content/plugins/sociofluid/images/facebook_48.png http://parenting.guruz-blog.com/wp-content/plugins/sociofluid/images/yahoobuzz_48.png

If you are frustrated because you have been told that getting pregnant with PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) is not possible, and that you probably won’t be able to have your own child ever, please don’t. Things are not really as bleak as they seem. Having a baby with PCOS is possible. Read and learn about ways to well manage PCOS to raise your chances of conceiving and bringing it to full term.

PCOS is one of many important factors behind infertility in women. While it is more difficult for women with PCOS to get pregnant and there is a significant possibility for miscarriage, lots of women afflicted with this disease successfully delivered healthy babies, proving that getting pregnant with PCOS is achievable.

What is PCOS?

Women with PCOS have many small cysts (fluid-filled sacs) on their ovaries that prevent the ovaries from functioning normally, disturbing ovulation and hormone secretion. This can lead to hormonal imbalance and thus disturbs fertility.

PCOS has been related to increased male hormone levels (such as testosterone), insulin levels and glucose levels. All these irregularities could meddle with implantation and development of the embryo. Irregular insulin levels may also lead to terrible egg quality.

The exact reason for PCOS stays unclear. It might be inherited, could possibly be linked to diabetes and the usage of certain seizure medicines.

Besides the presence of cysts, additional typical PCOS symptoms include amenorrhea (no period) or irregular periods (infrequent or no ovulation), abnormal bleeding, overweight, abnormal production of male hormone testosterone (symptoms such as excess facial and body hair growth), and infertility.

Fertility aid in PCOS

PCOS cannot be cured, but can be managed properly, and thereby bettering your fertility level.

1. Medical treatment options

Given that there is a hormonal imbalance issue, doctors generally recommend oral contraceptive pills to women affected by PCOS to help reestablish hormonal balance and regulate menstruation. Nevertheless, this may not be what you desire because your intent is to conceive and not to prevent pregnancy.

For you to stimulate ovulation, doctors will prescribe ovulation medications, such as Clomid. Fertility drugs such as this stimulate your body to make multiple ovum, while by nature your body only lets out a single egg every cycle.

Sometimes, doctors will prescribe the medicine metformin, which usually is used to cure diabetes, in order to reestablish regular ovulation and fertility in women affected by PCOS.

2. Lifestyle changes

There are several things you can certainly do to enhance your likelihood of conceiving a child with PCOS. Adopting a healthy diet regime and exercising on a regular basis helps a great deal in increasing fertility. If you are overweight, shedding off even just 5% of body weight could make a huge difference in fertility. Cutting down fat and carbs in your meals helps control blood insulin levels and improve fertility naturally in PCOS.

3. Natural treatments

Natural herbal remedies are available to aid getting pregnant with PCOS, through stimulating ovulation and balancing your hormones. Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), which involves the use of herbs and acupuncture, are also quite useful. TCM has been reported to correct a high proportion of PCOS-related infertility within just a few months of therapy. Nevertheless, never combine herbal remedy with the medications your doctor prescribed to avoid unfavorable side effects. If you want to understand more on how TCM can help improve fertility naturally in PCOS, you can check out the Pregnancy Miracle guide.

Having PCOS is not the end of the world; it does not mean that you’ll never have kids. Having a baby with PCOS is achievable, it only means that you have extra work to do, and will need extra care and treatment than your sister or girlfriend.

Steps To Take In Designing A Baby’s Room

Saturday, March 6th, 2010
http://parenting.guruz-blog.com/wp-content/plugins/sociofluid/images/digg_48.png http://parenting.guruz-blog.com/wp-content/plugins/sociofluid/images/reddit_48.png http://parenting.guruz-blog.com/wp-content/plugins/sociofluid/images/stumbleupon_48.png http://parenting.guruz-blog.com/wp-content/plugins/sociofluid/images/delicious_48.png http://parenting.guruz-blog.com/wp-content/plugins/sociofluid/images/furl_48.png http://parenting.guruz-blog.com/wp-content/plugins/sociofluid/images/technorati_48.png http://parenting.guruz-blog.com/wp-content/plugins/sociofluid/images/magnolia_48.png http://parenting.guruz-blog.com/wp-content/plugins/sociofluid/images/google_48.png http://parenting.guruz-blog.com/wp-content/plugins/sociofluid/images/myspace_48.png http://parenting.guruz-blog.com/wp-content/plugins/sociofluid/images/facebook_48.png http://parenting.guruz-blog.com/wp-content/plugins/sociofluid/images/yahoobuzz_48.png

In most cases, a baby’s room starts off with a blank palette. That means that you have a lot of power when it comes to designing it. There are some things that you need to look at before starting. For one thing, take proper measurements. Afterwards, look at the color you want to choose for the room. Obviously, this depends on the sex of the baby. If you don’t know whether you are having a boy or a girl, stick with something neutral that works in both.

Then you can decorate it with accessories that will go well with either a boy or a girl. You can use accent rugs and different types of ladybug baby bedding. Additionally, you’ll find many things that you can hang on walls. And, you don’t have to compromise the integrity of them with certain products. For example, a wallpaper border is easily installed and removed. Then you have to look at baby furniture.

Many parents seem very content with the convertible crib. It’s simply because although it starts off as a crib, it can be converted into a small bed. Therefore, you don’t have to buy a new bed for your baby when he outgrows the crib.

Convertible baby crib white furniture is also a good option. While keeping the furniture for as long as you can is the optimum choice, you will want to change it down the line. You have to remember that baby furniture gets banged into a lot when the child grows into a toddler. They tend to throw things around and often the furniture takes a beating.

You don’t need a lot of money to decorate a baby’s room. In fact, it can all be done on a budget. If you don’t know where to start, take a look at interesting library books that deal with the subject. You are certain to find some great ideas. Likewise, you can also find things in magazines and even online.

Look at what you really like and what you are drawn to. From there, it’s important to organize it accordingly. A baby needs a lot of things that must be at close reach. But, they must also be kept out of the reach of the baby. While the design is important, your child’s health is also important. Therefore, avoid putting into many stuffed animals as they can cause allergies from too much dust.

Then, when they grow to the age of five or six, you may want to redecorate for something that is more age-appropriate. Try to get their ideas and give them some room to help you decide and design the new room.

Endometriosis and Pregnancy – No Cure But Pregnancy is Still Possible

Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010

Endometriosis and Pregnancy - Background

Endometriosis is a condition where tissues normally lining a woman’s uterus grow or attach to organs located outside. During a woman’s period, the uterine lining will normally slough off; however the part that grows outside the uterus will remain. Throughout the ovulation to menstruation phase, the uterual tissue becomes constantly provoked. It can get torn, break down and bleed. This aggravation causes the formation of scar tissue and produces discomfort.

The Endometriosis Research Center says that there are more than 7 million recorded cases of endometriosis among women in the United States. It has been found to be the key causes of chronic pain in the pelvis, gynecologic surgeries, and infertility.

What Leads To Endometriosis?

Presently, the cause of endometriosis remains unknown, but experts have suggested a few possible reasons. Recent studies point that the condition may be genetic.

Signs

Symptoms of endometriosis include lower back pain, chronic pain the pelvis, painful menstruation (dysmenorrheal), fatigue and irregular or labored breathing. Women may also experience pain during sexual intercourse and ovulation, painful bowel movements and gastrointestinal problems such as bloating and diarrhea and constipation. In severe cases, endometriosis can lead to infertility.

Diagnosis

The only sure method to diagnose endometriosis is through surgery. Other diagnostic exams like MRIs, ultrasound, or CAT scans are usually inconclusive. A healthcare practitioner needs to look into the signs and symptoms, as well as the patient’s medical history. To diagnose the condition, the doctor may conduct a laparoscopic procedure or a laparotomy.

Endometriosis Cure?

Endometriosis has yet to find a cure, but doctors suggest certain methods of treatment to help with its management.

How It’s Treated

Methods to manage endometriosis include:

Pain Medication

Medications such as acetaminophen, ibuprofen and aspirin, which are available over-the-counter, are used to decrease discomfort and pain. If that doesn’t work, prescription drugs may be recommended.

Drug Therapy

Hormone drugs can be used to block a patient’s ovulation. The objective would be to prevent further provocation of the lesions and to shield onself against the onset of related symptoms. These drugs cover GnRH agonists, progesterone drugs, and oral contraceptives. Hormone therapy is performed particularly on patients who have come from surgery.

Surgery

Doctors use conservative surgery such as laparoscopy and laparatomy to diagnose the disease, as well as remove the abnormal growths. If it succeeds, it will help eliminate pain and increase the chances of pregnancy.

If traditional surgical procedures prove ineffective, doctors have the option to perform a hysterectomy or other more invasive procedures.

Alternative/Natural Therapy

Many patients prefer natural or alternative therapies to medications and surgery. Common alternative treatments would include acupuncture, Chinese medicine, and nutritional programs such as fertility herbs. There is a large amount of literature that supports the use of natural treatments as a wellness tool that can also stimulate the body’s innate defense system and healing action.

Infertility Hormones

Monday, March 1st, 2010
http://parenting.guruz-blog.com/wp-content/plugins/sociofluid/images/digg_48.png http://parenting.guruz-blog.com/wp-content/plugins/sociofluid/images/reddit_48.png http://parenting.guruz-blog.com/wp-content/plugins/sociofluid/images/stumbleupon_48.png http://parenting.guruz-blog.com/wp-content/plugins/sociofluid/images/delicious_48.png http://parenting.guruz-blog.com/wp-content/plugins/sociofluid/images/furl_48.png http://parenting.guruz-blog.com/wp-content/plugins/sociofluid/images/technorati_48.png http://parenting.guruz-blog.com/wp-content/plugins/sociofluid/images/magnolia_48.png http://parenting.guruz-blog.com/wp-content/plugins/sociofluid/images/google_48.png http://parenting.guruz-blog.com/wp-content/plugins/sociofluid/images/myspace_48.png http://parenting.guruz-blog.com/wp-content/plugins/sociofluid/images/facebook_48.png http://parenting.guruz-blog.com/wp-content/plugins/sociofluid/images/yahoobuzz_48.png

After all the blood work, they finally informed you that it’s your hormones causing all the trouble. Hormone therapy can be very effective in treating infertility although there are some possible hazards – so ensure that you are informed!

You could not have to take actual hormones, but instead you could have medication to balance your hormones.

These are for the ladies:

· Bromocriptine – Prolactin suppresses ovulation and promotes breast milk production, so bromocriptine suppresses prolactin to stimulate ovulation. You could experience nausea, low blood pressue, headaches and possibly dizziness as well.

· Clomiphene – FSH (follicle stimulating hormone) and LH (luteinizing hormone) are needed to help the ovaries release healthy eggs and this drug encourages the pituitary gland to manufacture FSH and LH. Benefits are that it is quite affordable and effective in women with PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) or irregular menstruation although side effects may include insomnia, nausea, tender breasts and headaches.

· Metoformin – This is used to assist women with PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) or insulin resistance as it decreases the concentrations of male hormones in the system and thus helps the body to ovulate.

Actual hormones may also aid ovulation.

· Human Menopausal Gonadotropin (hMG) – This contains LH (luteinizing hormone) and FSH (follicle stimulating hormone) which are obtained from the urine of women who have stopped menstruating and is generally prescribed if you have difficulties with your pituitary gland and the other drugs haven’t worked. Unfortunately they are not always effective and are quite expensive as additional ultrasound scans are required to check how the drug is working. Dangers include an increased risk of multiple births, premature births, spontaneous abortion or enlarged ovaries.

· Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (hCG) – HCG assists in stimulating ovulation and treats endometriosis by working together with hMG. Side effects include increased frequency of cysts on the ovaries, increased chance of enlarged ovaries and multiple births.

· Urofollitropin (FSH) – Used if clomiphene is unsuccessful in encouraging ovulation in women suffering from PCOS.

· Luteinizing Hormone – Releasing Hormone (LH-RH) – These drugs might be given to treat endometriosis or to regulate the pituitary gland. It is rather tricky to administer and it raises the risk of multiple births and infections.

· Gonadotropin-releasing hormone (Gn-RH) – Stimulates the pituitary gland to aid ovulation.

· Progesterone – Helps development of a healthy uterine lining to receive the zygote.

For the guys:

Overall, infertility hormones are not as successful for men as they are for women; however they may be prescribed in some cases. Below is a list of hormones that might be given to men, and it is interesting to see that they are a lot like those administered to women.

· Testosterone – Assists with general sexual performance by mimicking natural testosterone.

· Gn-RH – This instructs the pituitary gland to release FSH, which instructs the testes to manufacture sperm, and LH, which tells the testes to make testosterone.

· Bromocriptine – Testosterone will not be manufactured if you have too much prolactin so Bromocriptine will help decrease prolactin levels. Just beware of the hallucinations.

· hCG & FSH – Help stimulate the manufacturing of sperm for men with low sperm count or reduced sperm motility. These are believed to be two of the most useful infertility hormones for men.

Risks

Find out what to anticipate from the medication you are taking to prevent any undesirable interactions. A possible hitch with infertility hormones is the increased likelihood of multiple pregnancies. That might not seem like such a negative thing to you when you’re desperate to conceive. At first thought it may make sense to get two (or three or four) for the price of one, multiples are more likely to experience complications and be born too early, thus elevating the odds of further health and growth problems.

Hopefully this has given you some help in deciding whether you would like to go for the infertility hormones or not. Best of luck to you!

Uterine Infertility

Sunday, February 28th, 2010
http://parenting.guruz-blog.com/wp-content/plugins/sociofluid/images/digg_48.png http://parenting.guruz-blog.com/wp-content/plugins/sociofluid/images/reddit_48.png http://parenting.guruz-blog.com/wp-content/plugins/sociofluid/images/stumbleupon_48.png http://parenting.guruz-blog.com/wp-content/plugins/sociofluid/images/delicious_48.png http://parenting.guruz-blog.com/wp-content/plugins/sociofluid/images/furl_48.png http://parenting.guruz-blog.com/wp-content/plugins/sociofluid/images/technorati_48.png http://parenting.guruz-blog.com/wp-content/plugins/sociofluid/images/magnolia_48.png http://parenting.guruz-blog.com/wp-content/plugins/sociofluid/images/google_48.png http://parenting.guruz-blog.com/wp-content/plugins/sociofluid/images/myspace_48.png http://parenting.guruz-blog.com/wp-content/plugins/sociofluid/images/facebook_48.png http://parenting.guruz-blog.com/wp-content/plugins/sociofluid/images/yahoobuzz_48.png

You probably never gave much thought to your uterus until the day you chose to get going on trying for a baby. You normally need to have a well-functioning uterus to be able to conceive. Unfortunately uterine infertility is not that scarce. There a few things that can cause uterine infertility:

· Fibroids – These are small benign lumps that grow on the endometrium. If these develop near the cervix or fallopian tube openings, or they are rather large, or numerous, they could make it difficult for the sperm and the egg to meet.

· Polyps – Ever spotted a skin tag? Well, an endometrial or uterine polyp is similar to a little skin tag on the interior of the uterus. There are no definite indicators for polyps other than abnormal bleeding. Like fibroids, polyps can obstruct the fallopian tube or cervix openings making it hard for the egg and the sperm to meet.

· Malformations of the uterus – You may inherited an irregularly shaped uterus, which could influence your chances of conceiving and having a baby.

· Scar tissue – on the interior of the uterus is also known as Asherman’s Syndrome. This tissue can make it difficult to conceive or can increase the risk of miscarriage. Abortiongs, surgeries or infections could cause scar tissue.

· Endometriosis – This isn’t truly a problem with the uterus, but this is when tissue that normally only grows on the inner wall of the uterus grows outside too, causing incredibly painful periods and increasing the chance of ectopic pregnancy (when the fertilized egg implants outside the uterus and starts to develop – yes, that is as painful as it seems).

· Muscular problems – At the time of ovulation the uterus contracts to suck the sperm up into the fallopian tubes. If these contractions are feeble or happen at the wrong time it may make having a baby more difficult.

· Luteal phase defect – The name seems quite menacing, but this just suggests that the uterine lining doesn’t form properly.

· Abnormal endometrial lining – This is when the endometrium is too thick or too thin, although precise definitions of too thin or too thick are somewhat relative.

Various tests that are employed to diagnose these conditions:

· Ultrasound – Saline solution is injected into the uterus and then an ultrasound scan is done.

· Hysterosalpingogram – This is also to check for ‘plumbing problems’ by filling the uterus (and fallopian tubes) with a liquid that shows up on X-ray.

· Laparoscopy – A miniature camera goes in through a little cut in the abdomen to have a look around.

· Hysteroscopy – The camera is inserted through the vagina rather than through an incision in the abdomen.

Doctors may also use the tests listed above as opportunities to take tissue samples for screening.

After undergoing all these tests you may find that your uterus is just fine – and so begins the process of elimination! If you’re struggling to get pregnant then it’s helpful to know that uterine infertility is generally easily treated, so although the tests can be uncomfortable and awkward at least you’ll be closer to identifying what the problem is and that means you’ll be more able to fix it.

What are the causes of infertility?

Friday, February 26th, 2010
http://parenting.guruz-blog.com/wp-content/plugins/sociofluid/images/digg_48.png http://parenting.guruz-blog.com/wp-content/plugins/sociofluid/images/reddit_48.png http://parenting.guruz-blog.com/wp-content/plugins/sociofluid/images/stumbleupon_48.png http://parenting.guruz-blog.com/wp-content/plugins/sociofluid/images/delicious_48.png http://parenting.guruz-blog.com/wp-content/plugins/sociofluid/images/furl_48.png http://parenting.guruz-blog.com/wp-content/plugins/sociofluid/images/technorati_48.png http://parenting.guruz-blog.com/wp-content/plugins/sociofluid/images/magnolia_48.png http://parenting.guruz-blog.com/wp-content/plugins/sociofluid/images/google_48.png http://parenting.guruz-blog.com/wp-content/plugins/sociofluid/images/myspace_48.png http://parenting.guruz-blog.com/wp-content/plugins/sociofluid/images/facebook_48.png http://parenting.guruz-blog.com/wp-content/plugins/sociofluid/images/yahoobuzz_48.png

Firstly, the list of the causes of infertility below is not intended to shock you with all the things that could possibly be wrong! After you’ve looked at the list you could start to question how any babies are still born without intervention! I just want to give you a list of possibilities so that you have an idea of some things you can try sorting out prior to going for treatment, and so that you know what the doc will be watching for if you choose to go that route. I’m a big supporter of knowing what is going on when it comes to my medical care – because then I might have a better idea of what my choices are. So, begin the process of informing yourself with this list below.

Ladies and Gentlemen:

· Lubricant – Yup, you read correctly, lubricant. Several varieties and flavours of lubricant give spermies a tough time. Increasing your fertility might be as easy as changing your brand!

· Drugs – Your fertility may be negatively affected by a large number of substances including caffeine, tobacco, over-the-counter medication, prescription medication, recreational drugs and alcohol.

· Stress – You must know when you’re ovulating to schedule sexual intercourse properly, but if your cycle is messed up due to tension that could make life a little more difficult.

· Timing – Timing might be the solution! Try to determine when the lady is ovulating and you’ll greatly improve your odds of having a baby!

· Weight – For guys, being overweight is not advantageous; and for the ladies being obese or underweight can spoil your capacity to get pregnant.

· Hormones – You may have too much or too little of one or other hormone. This triggers things such as PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome).

· Scarring – If you have undergone abdominal surgery or surgery ‘down there’, there might be a little scarring which might stop the equipment from functioning properly. Scar tissue could also be formed by STDs and if you have fibroids in your uterus they can have the same result as scar tissue.

· Position – Unless you’re in orbit having sexual intercourse standing up is unconstructive as the poor lads have to swim against gravity. Let the man be on top for a change.

· Illnesses – STDs and other diseases can affect your fertility negatively so have those seen to.

· Organs etc. – Essentially this is a ‘plumbing’ problem where one or other cavity, tube or protuberance isn’t operating effectively. For the guys this can include conditions like erectile dysfunction, for the ladies it could include conditions such as endometriosis or fibroids.

· Immune system issues – Sometimes the woman’s body is unreceptive to sperm and regards them as dangerous trespassers. Before you get stuck-up, the man’s body sometimes destroys his own sperm too!

Ladies only:

· Age – Egg condition goes down rather rapidly after 35 years of age.

· Abnormal cervical mucus – To be able to get pregnant the mucus made by the cervix has to be the right consistency and it must be produced in sufficient amounts.

· Premature menopause – Excessive exercise or eating disorders can cause the body to stop releasing eggs a lot earlier than is usual.

Men only:

· Sperm – Who thought the tiny chaps could cause such a massive problem? Sperm have to be able to move well and there must be many them to ensure that at least a couple makes it to the egg.

· Prostate infections – Can also cause infertility.

· Testes – Underdeveloped, undescended or injured testes may also cause infertility.

· Variococele – Sperm die from overheating when the veins in the scrotum are enlarged.

· Retrograde ejaculation – Sperm take a right instead of a left and end up in the bladder rather than going out the urethra.

· Illnesses – Conditions such as mumps, cystic fibrosis or kidney disease are known to bring about infertility in men.

· Environmental pollutants – Toxins such as pesticides and chemicals released by plastic that is degrading can compromise sperm count and quality.

· Tight Undies – Sperm overheat and die when the testes get too hot because of undies that are too snug.

Hopefully this list will help you rather than strike your heart with sheer terror. Now that you understand some of the causes of infertility, you can identify what to look for and choose what course of action to take.

Becoming a new parent requires you to make wise choices when it comes to products and the way you care for your baby. It’s important that you embrace those products that are meant to make your life better, as well as your baby’s.

In preparing for your baby’s arrival, there are many things that you will need to buy. Of course, everything adds up, and things can get quite costly. However, it’s important that you don’t overlook buying your baby a set of baby bath towels. It is preferable to have more than that, it at least one set is required. They are the perfect size and are extra soft, just right for the baby’s skin. Additionally, there won’t be any confusion as to which towels you’ve set aside for him.

Feeding your baby is of utmost importance. Most people are looking at breast-feeding as the best solution. If that’s the case with you, then you should definitely invest in an electric breast pump. Not only will it be able to pump out plenty of milk that you could store, it will give you a much needed break, enabling you to get out.

So, whether you’re working or whether you just need a break to catch up on some sleep, someone else will be able to feed the baby with the bottle that contains your milk. So it’s like you’re there, without you even been there. Decisions like these are very important because it will give you a break once in a while. Everyone needs a break, so don’t feel guilty about taking one.

Other decisions that you’ll need to make are directly related to the safety of of your child, as well as his comfort. As the Northern Hemisphere braces for yet another winter, we have to decide on smart heating options that will not impact our energy costs greatly.

The nursery can be heated more effectively using the DeLonghi space heater. This way, you can provide the necessary heat in the room without raising the heat throughout the entire house. This will be a money saver right off the bat.

Great parents are those who are informed about products and solutions to any problems they may be having. They inform themselves prior to making decisions.
