If you’re thinking of heading to Orlando, Florida, it is located approximately one-third of the way south down the Florida peninsula. It is inland, almost in the centre of the landmass. It is easily accessible by vehicle or airplane. As one of the top ten family tourist destinations in the US, it has a great deal of tourist accommodations to choose from. The first practical decision is whether or not to stay at a Disney World resort or one of the other fine hotels in Orlando. - Extra Magic Hours mean one of the parks is open earlier in the morning (or later in the evening) for guests of Disney World hotels only.

- Transportation throughout Disney World via a system of monorails, buses and boats.

- Guaranteed Entry into the theme parks, even when the parking lots are full.

- Package Delivery; your purchases at the theme parks can be sent directly to your hotel.

Each resort has a certain amount of luxury and space depending on the package you choose. Each of them has access to a swimming pool, arcade and playground. Value resorts generally include room for a family of four, a local food court and limited room service. Moderate resorts provide space for five, a mini-refrigerator and restaurant service. Deluxe resorts often have extra space, better dining options, 24-hour room service and best of all, prime locations – you’ll be closer to the parks and spend less time in transit. The deluxe villa resorts include full kitchens, 3 bedrooms, all the amenities of the other suites including gyms and spas.

Disney World is a massive attraction, with four theme parks spread across a landmass the size of Boston. It consists of the Magic Kingdom (best place for little kids), the Epcot centre, Disney’s Hollywood Studios and the Animal Kingdom. Exploring each one of these could take days. Plotting a route and itinerary would be a good idea to maximize the entertainment value of the expedition. Once plotted, finding a hotel or resort central to your plan would be a very safe bet. Since this is going to be one of the most memorable experiences for you and your family, it is definitely worth it to spend a little extra time considering the finer details of this vacation.

There are also a number of fine hotels that are not Disney World resorts, but do offer very attractive rates and bonuses for staying with them. Some of these bonuses include free dinners, passes to Universal and Sea World and massive discounts for off-season touring. While not quite as central to the Disney parks, there are a number of relatively convenient locations for visiting all of Orlando’s impressive attractions including the city core. Also, while these hotels are quite luxurious in their own right, they are a nice choice for families who plan to travel light, or have their own form of transportation while in the city. The Disney resorts’ features are extremely pleasant, but may not be as useful to smaller families or couples who can live without the added pampering. Not surprisingly, the hotel rates are also significantly less expensive, with packages starting as low as $50.00 per night.

With all the attractions, sub-tropical weather and friendly community, it is easy to see why Florida is such a popular state. Orlando is surrounded by beautiful lakes and countryside, making it one of the all-around nicest cities in the US. Home to Disney World, Universal Orlando and Sea World, the tourist options are not only varied, but offer extreme value because of their location and friendly rates. One of the hottest locations to visit at any time of the year, this destination is sure to be an unforgettable experience!

The gorgeous Princess Tiana is the protagonist of Disney’s upcoming 2009 film The Princess and the Frog. The film has a limited release date in the USA  (in NY and LA only) as the 25th November  and will be released in US theaters on December 11th.   This film will mark the return of Disney to traditional hand drawn animation and will bring to fans the 9th Disney Princess. The latest member of Disney’s Royal Family, Princess Tiana, is the first Disney Princess to come along in a long 11 years – with the last Disney Princess being 1998’s Mulan.

The Princess and the frog storyline centers on young Tiana, a girl living in the French Quarter of New Orleans during the 1920s Jazz Age and a prince named Naveen who has been transformed into a frog by the evil voodoo magician Dr. Facilier. The story features a trumpet playing alligator, a love sick Cajun firefly and a host of other adorable characters at every turn.

At the recent US  Toy Fair, a preview was given of the Disney merchandise that will accompany the movie.With vibrant and regal colors like green, purple and gold, the toys evoke life in New Orleans and the bayou, where the film is set. The extensive Disney collection includes dolls, playsets, role-play items and costumes as well as colorful accessories.

The Princess and the Frog Tiana doll (expected to retail at around ) from Mattel, will probably be the most popular toy from the line. Just as in the story, beautiful Princess Tiana wears her sparkly blue ball gown and comes with her frog Prince Naveen. The fiber-optic gown lights up and the doll and frog interact! In addition to the signature Princess Tiana doll, Prince Naveen and Princess Tiana will be available in wedding attire.

She wants to do things her way, without help from anyone. “She’s a strong woman who doesn’t need anyone to do things for her,” says Anika Noni Rose. “She wants to do things for herself…”
