Oxycontin and roxycontin have gotten very popular in recent years, especially with young people. Some might argue that there has never been a more problematic drug to get hooked on. The narcotic is not only psychologically addictive, but it makes the addict physically addicted as well. The oxy plague is destroying families all over the country. A young person who is addicted to oxy or roxy can be very erratic, and this will make everyone in the home worried. A teen who is addicted to this substance makes home life dangerous. If you have a son or daughter abusing oxycontin you need to begin planning an intervention without delay.

Typically you won’t hear your teen say oxy or oxycontin. Teens use secret language words to talk about getting high and you will hear them refer to heroin or oxycontin in this fashion. Usually they are referred to just as pills, but you also could hear your high schooler refer to them as “blues” or as that “deaf”. If you hear your adolescent make a phone call and say “did you get your prescription” or “want to get some medicine” you now are aware of what this means. If they are abusing oxycontin you desperately have to do something right now.

Oxycontin was considered originally to aid very sick people or people struggling with excruciating injuries. When ingested traditionally its effects are gradually released into the body helping this unlucky person deal with their uncontrollable pain. When teenagers abuse roxycontin however, they rarely swallow it. The most typical method of using the drug is by snorting it. The damage this creates for the nasal passage is often worse than cocaine. Others smoke it and this can be equally dangerous. The chemicals in the pill produce a very harmful smoke to be ingested in the lungs. This is similar to crack in that the high is extremely powerful and does not last very long. Roxycontin is also shot up with a syringe and this is equally worrying. Sharing needles can result in disease as well.

When someone is hooked on opiates they become physically addicted as well. With other drugs there is a psychological addiction. Psychological addiction can be more powerful than most people ever realize. With opiates, the psychological addiction is still there and can maybe be considered stronger than most drugs, but in addition to that the user becomes physically addicted. Abstinence from the drug will make the user violently sick. They will vomit excessively and have the chills despite running a high fever. Their body will hurt terribly and they will be in extreme pain.

This narcotic is very serious. If your teen is abusing opiates they need help immediately. Do not think restraint or taking away their rights will resolve this dilemma. They are addicted to a powerful narcotic and measures like this will always make them want to use more. You need a teen rehab for your child, where they can accept the help and counseling they need. They will be able to detox from the drugs under their specialized care, and after the hell of detox is over they will be free from their physical dependence and can now work on the harder part of becoming sober.

If your high schooler is bringing teen drug abuse into the house, you need a solution right away. When this occurs you need to find them a good teen treatment so that they can work toward becoming sober and living a good life again.
